Chakrasana or wheel pose: How to do it,its Advantages and precautions:

Chakrasana or wheel pose


Chakrasana is derived from two sanskrit word 'Chakra' which means 'wheel' or 'Asana' means 'posture'. In chakrasana we can take a shape like wheel. This is the one of the basic Hatha Yoga asana that helps to increase our spine or legs flexibility.

Chakrasana is a one of the best back bending yoga posture that can increase our spine,thighs,arms or shoulders flexibility or makes our muscles strong.If you wants to take effective results do it early morning with a empty stomach because practice it with empty stomach helps you to improves your digestive system and solve the problem of gas and acidity.It also improves the functioning of kidney and lungs.

How to do it:

  • Firstly,lie down on a mat in Shavasana or corpse pose.
  • While exhailing,bend your knees and bring the feets close to the buttocks as possible. 
  • Bend your arms and place your palms above to your shoulders or close to your ears on the mat.
  • Lift up your hips and drop your head back while arching the spine.
  • Make sure that raising your hips and stomach as high as possible.
  • Stay in the posture according to your capacity or 12 to 15 seconds.
  • Make sure that while stay in this posture,breathe in and out normally.
  • This is the one cycle of chakrasana or wheel pose.

Release the pose:

  • Firstly,you have a need to bend your elbows and bend your knees.
  • Now,get your head on the floor.
  • Start lowing your spine and very slowly come down.
  • Relaxed and comes in a shavasana or corpse pose.
  • If you wants to stretch your body to avoid injury,you will stretch your body to doing strecthing exercise.

If you are flexible and easily practice chakrasana,you will practice or go to advance chakrasana or Urdhva Dhanurasana.If you get wheel pose or chakrasana,raise you one leg and transfer your whole body weight on the one foot or leg. Stay in pose for a some seconds and then bring your legs to the floor.Now,repeat the same instructions to the other leg.
You will also raise your right arm and move the weight on one arm. Hold the pose for a few seconds and then bring arm back to the floor.Repeat it with other arm.

Precautions:

  • If you have a problem of spine or back injury should not practice this asana.
  • Headache problem persons should avoid it.
  • Shoulders or wrist injury person should not practice this asana.
  • Do not practice this asana if you suffer from high blood pressure.

Beginners Tips:

  • As a Beginners,if you face problem to lift up your stomach and take a shape of arc,you will place a blanket under your spine to easily lift up your body.
  • Make sure that lift up your according to your capacity or flexibility.
